APPS 4.06 Senior Lecturers

01 SENIOR LECTURER APPOINTMENTS

Senior Lecturer appointments in the Department of Accounting are made in accordance with University policies as described in APPS 4.01.20 Faculty Responsibilities, Definitions, and Titles.

02 PROMOTION TO SENIOR LECTURER

Promotion of an existing lecturer to a senior lecturer position will not require the department to engage in a national faculty search. Senior lecturer appointments will normally be made for three-year terms, pending successful annual reviews and recommendations to reappoint.

In the Department of Accounting, promotion from lecturer to senior lecturer signifies departmental commitment to the faculty member in recognition of excellence in teaching and good service. Promotion requires the following:

  • A minimum of six years (consecutive fall and spring semesters) of full-time teaching in the Department of Accounting at Texas State University.
  • Maintenance by the lecturer of one of the faculty qualifications defined in CBAPPS 5.07 Criteria for Faculty Qualifications.
  • Documented, continuous service activities to the community, profession, department, college, and/or university.
  • An established record of high-quality teaching effectiveness.
