Congratulations, Bobcats!

We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful student employees in our Department. It’s that bittersweet time of year that we see many of them graduate, so while we have to say good-bye, we couldn’t be more proud of them!

Congratulations, Andi!

Andrea Reinke has completed the MAcy and has accepted a position with EY in assurance in Austin, TX!

Andi shared her best advice to Accounting Bobcats, "Make connections with your professors and classmates - they are your most valuable resources!"

She also has a special shoutout to "Professor Kathy Moffitt, Professor Elizabeth Ponder, Dr. Chris Proschko and Dr. Carolyn Conn for supporting me and advising me through my years at Texas State."

We are going to miss you Andi, but we are always cheering you on and wishing you the best. Thank you for being such a wonderful addition to our department!

Congratulations, Brooke!

Brooke Taylor has also completed the MAcy and accepted a Tax Associate position with Grant Thornton in Houston starting this fall.

Brooke’s best advice to Accounting Bobcats, “Attend the events! You will meet people and it will help you be more prepared for interviews and internships.”

Her special shout out, “I would like to thank the Accounting Department! I worked there as an undergrad and a GA, and they were so helpful and made a big impact on my time at TXST.”

Brooke, we are the grateful ones! Thank you for everything you did during your time in the Department, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next in your accounting career!

Congratulations, Liesel!

Liesel Bass has completed her BBA and we are so excited to announce will continue on in the MAcy program as well as start her new role in the department as a Graduate Assistant!

Liesel’s best advice applies to all students, including non-traditional students like herself, “I used to think I wasn’t good enough for success because my path was different. I realized that the only thing holding me back was self-doubt. It took some soul searching to figure out what I wanted, and now nothing can stand in my way. Keep going and keep trying!”

Her special shout out goes to quite a few a faculty who have made a different in her education.  “Dr. Proschko was my first accounting professor and I would not have my CPA goals without him. Mrs. Ponder has showed me time and time again that a good heart is worth showing to people. I also wouldn’t be nearly as connected to professionals if it wasn’t for her intro to the TSCPA Austin chapter. Professor Moffitt has always been my cheerleader and in my corner when I need advice. I wouldn’t have been nearly as successful in the accounting club as I was without the care and consideration from Dr. Conn. These professors have become close personal friends and mentors. I’m so happy that I found a home here in the accounting department.”

Liesel, you are a true joy in our department and we are so excited to have you a couple of more semesters!

Congratulations, Diana!

Diana completed her BBA in Accounting this spring and will continue on in the MAcy this summer! Due to COVID-19, Diana's summer internship with PwC will now be a virtual experience, but she still has positive outlook and is eager to participate in this one of a kind internship.

On top of working for the Department since the fall of 2017, Diana also worked the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic this past spring. In fact, she completed the most returns out of all the volunteers and staff during her time at the clinic!

"Stay focused and study hard," says Diana when asked for her advice to Accounting Bobcats. "But save some time for fun, too!"

Diana would like to give a special shout out to Dr. Proschko. "I had him for my principles class and then again for tax, which is what I want to get into. I also had fun hanging out with him at VITA!"

We already miss seeing you daily, Diana! You were always a warm, welcoming smile in the department and a friendly conversation. We wish you all the best as you continue on in the MAcy, be sure to stop by and say hi!
