Beta Alpha Psi Takes First Place at Southwest Regional Conference

Eight students attended the 2020 Beta Alpha Psi Southwest Regional Conference in New Orleans, LA, March 28-29. The students, all Beta Alpha Psi members, worked together as a team to create a winning Best Practices presentation in the Impact category.

Their presentation addressed food insecurity at Texas State, as well as in the San Marcos community, and Beta Alpha Psi’s efforts to work with Hays County Food Bank and Bobcat Bounty to create awareness and participate in their events. The students hope to fully staff volunteers to add an additional shopping day for students at Bobcat Bounty, the on-campus food bank.

By winning first place in their category, the team will advance to the International Beta Alpha Psi Conference in August in Orlando, FL, to compete against all other regional winners in the Impact category.

Presenters were:  Brianna Soto, Dagny Franke, Esmeralda Vitan, and Alec Stivers, all Beta Alpha Psi officers this semester. Their support team included Lesly Castillo, Leslie Venglar, Kristen Webber, and Tyler Hartwick.
