Graduate Assistant Application


  • MAcy student, MBA student, or graduate English student
  • A graduate assistant must be taking at least 6 hours in order to qualify as a GA. The department prefers that GAs take no more than 12 hours.

Required Skills:

  • Punctual
  • Volunteers for tasks when needed
  • Has attention to detail
  • Keeps a clean area

Expected Hours:

  • Must work at least 20 hours but no more than 25 hours a week

Deadline for Applications:

  • Spring 2018: No Longer Accepting Applications
  • Summer 2018: April 1, 2018
  • Fall 2018: May 1, 2018

Job Duties:

Can include any course-related task within reason. List of common duties include:

  • proctoring
  • shredding
  • making copies
  • grading and attending mandatory grading sessions
  • dropping off/picking up tests at the testing center
  • data entry
  • holding office hours
  • organizing faculty offices
  • helping the department with extra tasks as needed

English GA main job duties include:

  • grading writing assignments (with a focus on punctuation, usage, grammar, and formatting) for both undergraduate and graduate-level courses
  • other duties may be adjusted accordingly to meet grading deadlines

Skills testing is possible during interview.

You will be required to attend a mandatory training session as well as complete online training in your first week of employment.
