Requirements Include:

  • Earned doctorate in accounting, business administration or a J.D. with an L.L.M.
  • Administrative skills needed to lead a department in a large public university
  • A record of excellence in scholarship, teaching and service commensurate with appointment at the professor rank 

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Demonstrated effective administrative experience indicating likelihood of success in managing the operations of a complex academic department in a large public university
  • Experience facilitating faculty development
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to sustain a collegial environment that supports excellence in research, teaching, and service
  • Ability to maintain collegial working relationships with other college administrators
  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity of faculty, students, and staff
  • Experience that suggests the likelihood of success in fostering relationships with external constituencies

The Emmett and Miriam McCoy College of Business Administration

Established in 1958, the McCoy College of Business Administration offers the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with majors in accounting, computer information systems, economics, finance, management, and marketing.  Certificate options include Latin American Business and Computer Information Systems.  At the graduate level, the College offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Science in Accounting and Information Technology (MSAIT), and the Master of Accountancy (MAcy) degrees. 

In 2004, Emmett and Miriam McCoy pledged the largest gift in the history of the College of Business Administration--$20 million—and the college and new business building are named in their honor.  The gift, managed by the McCoy College of Business Development Foundation, funds endowed chairs and distinguished professorships, undergraduate and graduate scholarships and faculty, student and program development.

Completed in spring 2006, McCoy Hall is designed with an atmosphere reflective of corporate environments.  The design also supports the applied learning approach used by the business faculty.  High-tech classrooms, a trading laboratory, fixed and mobile computer labs, student and team study rooms, an advising center, and a variety of other instructional settings promote the development of tomorrow’s business leaders.  The McCoy College is a place of great energy, intellectual challenge, and opportunity.  At the heart of the College is an enthusiastic, student-oriented faculty knowledgeable in their discipline through the pursuit of intellectual contributions, professional development, and business experience.

The Community:
San Marcos, a city of about 45,000 residents, is situated in the beautiful Central Texas Hill Country, 30 miles south of Austin and 48 miles north of San Antonio.  Metropolitan attractions plus outdoor recreational opportunities make the community an attractive place in which to live and work.  Other major metropolitan areas, including Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, are within four hours.
